Welcome to Outwith, a brand new festival bringing the best of visual art, literature, theatre, film, live music and comedy to Dunfermline.

The Edinburgh Festival season may have drawn to a close, but over the Forth Bridges things are hotting up as Dunfermline prepares to host its first Arts Festival. The Outwith Festival runs from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th of September, with over 50 performances and exhibitions at venues throughout the historic centre of Dunfermline. Follow us on Facebook or Twitter @OutwithFestival, or visit our website www.outwithfestival. co.uk to book. Outwith Festival another terrific reason to Visit Dunfermline

Outwith is timely. The year Dunfermline has seen the opening of the award-winning Richard Murphy designed Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries: While Fire Station Creative, a gallery with busy artists’ studios and a popular café bar hosting events and live music, goes from strength to strength.  The reopening of Abbot House as a tourist hub and artisan bakery is also planned for later in the year, completing the town’s flourishing heritage quarter.

Highlights range from an exhibition by internationally renowned Fife artist David Mach, who will be showcasing an exciting new installation, to innovative, cutting-edge comedy and a diverse range of bands and musicians. The literature events, feature a strong line-up of writers such as award winning authors Isla Dewar, Angela Jackson, Alan Bissett, and Dunfermline’s very own Renaissance Man, Richard Jobson.
